A colorful watermelon platter filled with assorted berries and garnished with mint and lime slices.

# What you need:

→ Main Fruit

01 - 1 large seedless watermelon, ripe and firm

→ Berries & Accents

02 - 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
03 - 1 cup fresh blueberries
04 - 1 cup fresh raspberries
05 - 1 cup fresh blackberries
06 - Fresh mint leaves for garnish

→ Optional Additions

07 - 1 cup seedless grapes, halved
08 - 1 cup pineapple chunks
09 - 1 lime, sliced for garnish

# How to Make It:

01 - Wash all fruits thoroughly under cold running water and pat dry with paper towels.
02 - Cut a thin slice from the bottom of the watermelon to create a flat, stable base for placing on serving board or platter.
03 - Slice off the top third of the watermelon lengthwise to form an open boat or vessel shape.
04 - Using a melon baller or sturdy spoon, carefully scoop out the watermelon flesh, reserving scooped portions in a bowl. Remove as much flesh as possible while maintaining a sturdy shell approximately 1 inch thick.
05 - Arrange reserved watermelon balls and chunks back into the hollowed shell, combining with half of the prepared berries for a mixed filling.
06 - Artfully arrange remaining berries and optional fruits around the watermelon carving on a large serving board or platter.
07 - Garnish the fruit platter with fresh mint leaves and lime slices if desired for added visual appeal and flavor.
08 - Serve immediately at room temperature, or refrigerate until ready to present to guests.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It's a total showstopper that makes people think you spent hours in the kitchen when you really just spent thirty minutes.
  • No cooking required means your kitchen stays cool and your stress stays low, especially during hot weather.
  • You can customize it endlessly with whatever berries and fruits are looking good at your market that day.
02 -
  • Pat your berries completely dry before filling, or they'll weep and create a soggy mess that looks less elegant than intended.
  • If you're making this more than a couple hours ahead, keep the berries separate until the last moment, then do a quick final arrangement—it's the difference between stunning and sad-looking.
03 -
  • If your watermelon feels soft when you test it, it's actually perfect for scooping—a firmer melon is harder to carve but makes a sturdier vessel.
  • Use a cookie cutter on extra watermelon flesh to create shapes, then toss those back in for extra personality and color contrast.
